Concept Development
Our journey began with close collaboration between our creative team and the client to ensure that the video fit in with the host on QVC. Together, we explored ways to make microbiological processes relatable to their everyday audience they are targeting with this ad. The solution was a split-screen narrative: one side visualising harmful red bacteria multiplying and contaminating a surface, and the other side showing green and blue probiotics suppressing pathogens and forming a protective barrier. This direct comparison told a clear story while highlighting the distinct advantages of probiotic cleaning.
To reinforce this narrative, we developed strong visual metaphors. Murky tones and erratic bacterial movements communicated contamination and risk, while glowing, softly animated probiotics signaled cleanliness, health, and long-lasting protection. This balance between accuracy and storytelling created a foundation for both scientific credibility and consumer appeal.
The Production Process
We began by storyboarding and creating animatics to map out pacing, camera transitions, and key moments in alignment with the live host’s script.
Once approved, we moved into production:
- Design high-resolution 3D models of pathogenic and probiotic bacteria, along with modern kitchen environments.
- Rigging and particle simulations brought bacterial spread to life, while dynamic interactions showed the probiotic shield in action.
- Lighting setups were carefully designed to differentiate “contaminated” from “protected” surfaces, while stylised shaders helped make microscopic visuals understandable to a general audience.
- Smooth camera moves transitioned seamlessly between the micro and macro worlds, keeping viewers engaged without overwhelming them.

Technical Execution
To ensure smooth rendering without sacrificing quality, we optimised 3D assets, textures, and lighting setups early in the pipeline.
- Rendering Efficiency: render settings were fine-tuned, and test renders were performed at various stages to balance speed and fidelity. Where possible, render layers and passes were used to streamline compositing, allowing adjustments without re-rendering full sequences.
- Lighting, Shading & Effects: lighting and shading were designed for both realism and brand consistency. Physically accurate shaders enhanced believability, while stylised surface treatments made bacteria and protective shields instantly recognisable. Particle effects, representing bacterial spread, fog, and protective barriers, were refined for scale and realism, ensuring they integrated naturally within the scenes.
- Compositing & Colour Correction: colour correction balanced brand colours with clarity, enhancing mood and depth.
- Revision Workflow: once the initial draft was shared, we collaborated closely with the client, incorporating their input in a systematic revision process. This method kept the project on track, ensured all adjustments were addressed thoughtfully, and maintained the client’s involvement until the final version was fully approved.
Since the animation was intended for broadcast, we mainly focused on that as our output platform. In compositing, render passes gave us control over every visual layer. Final polish included glow effects on probiotics, subtle motion blur, and audio synchronisation (for versions beyond the silent broadcast), giving the piece a cinematic finish.
Artistic Design
The visual style balanced clarity with sophistication. The bacteria were intentionally stylised: red bacteria were given mischievous expressions and movements to signal danger, while green and blue probiotics glowed softly, embodying safety, health, and cleanliness. This contrast gave the animation both scientific credibility and strong visual storytelling appeal.

Revisions and Collaboration
Throughout the process, we maintained structured feedback loops with the client. After the first draft, revisions were prioritised to stay aligned with project goals and timelines. Each round of changes was implemented efficiently, with preview files provided for approval before final sign-off. This collaborative approach ensured scientific precision while also meeting marketing objectives.
The Final Impact
The finished 3D animation transformed invisible science into a visual narrative that elevated ProbioWellClean’s live television campaign. By showing the battle between harmful bacteria and probiotics in real time, the video empowered the host to explain product benefits clearly, building trust with viewers and boosting sales.
This project stands as a strong example of how high-end 3D animation can bridge science, storytelling, and marketing.Turning complex processes into consumer-friendly visuals that leave a lasting impact.
